This is my blog.
I blog other places and do what I'm told. I do what I want here. Some posts I've been paid for, to mention a product or a company. But I don't endorse for pay. When I'm not "mentioning," I'm contemplating, or venting, or trying to help. This blog is a work in progress, trying to find its voice while providing a home base for all my projects. I can do whatever I want, really. This is my blog.

One Day My Break will Come

carolinadesigns.jpg

I need a break. I really do. "Back to school" my a**. They should call it "Back to BS".  Do you see how long it's been since I have posted? It's ridiculous.  The kids are right - School sucks!

At the end of the school year, every year, I start to see ahead toward those days where we get to sleep in a little. And the back and forth driving will cease. And my schedule is my own. Ahhhh. But wait. That also means a summer full of kids who are crying "bored" within 2 weeks. By July I can't wait for back to school. Heading into November now I think, "What was I thinking?!"  Then I think, "Wasn't this the summer I was going to finally look into an Outer Banks rental?"

With back to school comes schedules, and home work, and driving, conferences, and fighting over home work and conferences, strict deadlines, and lots of chauffering. With back to school comes waking up stupid early to have one kid to school at 7 and another one to school at 8:45, being nickel & dimed for pictures, fund raisers, and book clubs.  This leaves odd hours for the day job and no hours for the moonlighting writer.

So the moonlighting writer has to be content perusing the Carolina Designs website and browsing the beautiful North Carolina properties as she drifts to sleep at night imagining rocking in a chair , over looking the beach and writing, smelling the salty ocean air, then joining her family for a romp in the sand, and maybe a nap in the sun - with no deadlines, no commutes, and no homework.

One day...
